Interstitial cystitis – irritable bladder

Uncategorized / Saturday, September 2nd, 2017

Interstitial cystitis (IC) - irritable bladder is a CS syndrome that is often linked to others most commonly  IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) but also migraines and fibromyalgia.

Many women with this condition report their symptoms are worsened by food triggers like  chilli, coffee, chocolate, carbonated drinks, citrus fruits, tomatoes and products containing artificial sweeteners. And may feel better on a reduced  histamine or Amine and Salicylate Diet.

Symptoms of IC include

  • frequent urination—including having to get up to go to the toilet during the night
  • an urgent need to urinate
  • pain (abdominal, urethral, vaginal or perineal).

Similar conditons to IC are Urethra synrome and vulvodynia. These can be difficult to tell apart some time and can co exist.

People with these conditions often report relief from reducing their exposure to fragranced laundry products and fragranced personal care products likes soaps.  Go here for choices I like.
