I often come across articles demonising Canola Oil, this has concerned me as Canola Oil is one of the few oils that I can tolerate. Most others are either too high in amines or salicylates for me. So I decided to dig deeper. What I have discovered is that Canola Oil that is genetically modified (GM) or used industrially do seem have some concerns linked to them, however cold pressed and Non GM is considered a pretty good health option. Containing levels of “anti-inflammatory” healthy fats at a similar ratio to Olive Oil.
Bottom Line: Some conventional canola oils are questionable, but you can avoid the dangers and reap the anti inflammatory heart-healthy benefits by choosing a quality expeller-pressed or cold-pressed oil that’s also organic or non-GMO.
